What are values? Values are internalized ideals, something we value. They are priorities that guide everyday choices and shape our behavior. Values are personal, and the priorities of the values underpin each persons attitude, behavior and leadership style. There are more than 100 values defined, but each of us only act on 10-15 of them
Personal values are the set of values we prioritize the most and live by. They are different from person to person. The challenge with values is that the values we prioritize are mostly unconceous. By understanding more of the values we personally prioritize, we increase awareness of our personal behavior and action.
Corporate values are the strategic drivers that are required to succeed with the strategy. Making clear corporate values enable people to compare their existing values with the desired values and behavior needed to succeed with the strategy.
Hall Tonna values concept The values map holds 125 values with a precise definition, linked to a set of skills and behaviors. The values map is anchored by the unique values framework that Brian Hall developed starting in the early 1970s. This framework was validated in the mid 1980s while Dr. Brian Hall was at Santa Clara University. It has been the Values Technology vision to bring meaning to people and institutions globally. It is the only multilingual and multicultural tool that has been statistically validated (Hall, B.P., Values shift, 1994).
