People's actions, attitudes and values are developed and reprioritized along with the rapid changes and shifting relationships in business. The priority we assign to different values changes over time as we navigate our way through life based on business experience, personal relationships and changes in environment and circumstances. We move through situations and our values shift along an identifiable framework. 80% of these shifts are unconscious. The Values Map is based on the Hall Tonna values research identifying a system that measures 125 different values globally. People operate from a set of 10-15 of these values on a day to day basis, known as our personal values. They can be placed in different positions along the Values Map. These values screen the way people view the outside world; it is their filter for interpretation of external information. As a result, individuals with different values systems respond differently to the same business challenges, in the use of competence or responding to communicated messages. For each phase of The Values Map, a person's view of the world and values priorities can be precisely defined and used to predict their view on relationships, problemsolving approach and leadership styles. It explains the why behind their actions and decision making. Going from tacit to explicit in personal values open up to personal insights, with priorities, potential and visionary future. Through values mapping, the existing culture and preferred values will be explicit. When you connect with peoples' personal values, they engage and feel energized. Motivation and initiatives are mobilized. With a leadership style and form of communication that fits their values and view of the world they will respond. Similarly, people reject and/or ignore leaders, strategies and communication that do not fit within their values. In transforming into a more desired culture, the replacement of more desired values will replace the in-place values. The Values Map concept provide the power of an advanced measurement system to explain the drivers of the existing business culture. The Values Map will identify the drivers for specified focus areas as safety, risk, collaboration, innovation, ethics and sustainability. Hereby reveal the drivers for change, and a starting point for personal growth. Designed for global cultures, it relates to any business culture and leadership team in any strategic setting.
